Convulsive disorders or CV disease. W/draw gradually if patient was previously treated w/ neuroleptics w/ sedative effect. Patients on high doses & long-term therapy should be monitored carefully. Severe hepatic impairment. Not to be given during pregnancy & lactation.
Restlessness, insomnia, drowsiness. Rarely extrapyramidal symptoms, if recommended dose is exceeded. Occasionally tardive dyskinesia in long-term therapy.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced response to alcohol, barbiturates & other CNS depressants. Blocked antihypertensive effects of guanethidine or similar compd. Reduced effect of l-dopa & adrenergic drugs. Increased risk of extrapyramidal symptoms w/ metoclopramide & piperazine.
